Hello, this is my first time ever blogging, so if I am doing it wrong I apologize.
My name is Faith Lindsey, I am the founder and owner of Misty Creek. I started out as a Thoroughbred Rescue, and as I got these fabulous horses in, I just knew there was something more for them than trying to make a money hungry person happy, only in the end to be just thrown away like the garbage. I am happy to say that I did figure out what these guys are ready for. See these horses, they want so much to please, so much to belong, and so much to love back. Outside the horses, my passion is also in children, I love to help children. Now with these two loves together, I have been reforming Misty Creek into an Equine Therapy center. Yes, you say, there are those around, and yes they have been proven multi-times to be successful in bringing better mobility to children. Well YES you are right, but my center is different. Different in the way that in all these programs out there. I am yet to see one that has offered these services to ANY child, at ABSOLUTELY NO COST, not one red cent. No money, no insurance, nothing but the will for a child to want to ride a horse, and hopefully make ooooodles of progress to their present state. Also what bigger thrill than to know that they are riding a horse that once performed spectacular duties for someone, maybe even a champion horse. You see each one of these horses has it's own story, a story of hurt, and a story of success, well so does each child. Together, I see them making a new story.
Now my center consists of 3.3 acres. Unfortunately I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth. As a matter of fact, I prior to starting this project, drove an eighteen wheel truck over the road, that was until I was hit by another one. Now my days are with my horses. 4 to be exact, and one more coming in within the next few weeks. The last few weeks I have designed and have been breaking ground to put this center up. The new construction will consist of a 100'x120' barn, completely and totally handicapped accessible restrooms, riding arena, and benches, a railed track along the ceiling in the arena, to support children so they can not fall off a horse, stalls for a total of 8 horses, and a tack room. With the barn being made temp comforted for horses and guests, as well making it available for therapy any time of the year. Outside I will be placing a path all the way around the property so that children that are able to start riding on their own, can ride the path, also I will be putting up a Handicapped accessible meeting room, play ground, a Koi pond, and very nicely decorated pathways and areas of property so that all guests can enjoy the visit at Misty Creek.
To complete this project I am going to need to obtain sponsors and/or grants to total a cost of $250,000, I have a contractor that can complete all the necessary needs make this project a go. I will not continue to ask for funds on this project once it is completed, but we would accept all donations if someone chooses to keep contributing. Any and all Sponsors will be recognized on a special plaque wall that will be viewed in the barn annually, Uniquely, amounts of money contributed will fall into a level category, and each of these levels will be recognized in the name of a Famous Thoroughbred horse.
So now I am asking for help with sponsorship. I know times are tight, many have lost homes, jobs, and family. This is a bigger reason why I refuse to charge these families any money at all. Together we can make it possible for these kids to get the help that they need, and at any time, my facility can be visited by contributors to the project. My sponsors are the reason why this will work, and there will never be a time when they are not welcome to take a look at what they have helped become a step outside and dream, and into reality. I am also getting registered with the state of Missouri, working on becoming a member of the Better Business Bureau, and getting hooked up with a 501c3 so that all contributions can be recognized as a tax deduction. I really appreciate the time you took to view my blog. Please feel free at any time to respond to me, Thanks again Faith Lindsey
